Water Spout West of Hereford

HI Dave~!

Sharon in Umbarger here again! I was delivering mail today and for the 1st time in my life was able to see anything that resembled a tornado!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They said it was a water spout. Several ladies were out in their yards pointing at the sky. What they saw was behind a tree, to me, and they were asking me "is that a tornado"??? So I drove to where I could see it and it was already going back up into the clouds. OMG~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Surreal~! Twilight Zone!!!!!!! Just a slim non-pointy shaft of rapid SWIRL going back up!!!!!! I had my camera with me but it was going fast, so I grabbed my cell phone and snapped this. I've learned I don't like cell phone photos~ If you can enlarge the picture,,,in the middle of the 2 larger center trees is a smaller tree up by the pond. To the right of the smaller tree is about an inch of SWIRL going back up into the clouds. I can see it more plainly if it's enlarged. One of my great-nieces, Alysa (Friemel) George, in Hereford also snapped a picture and I told her how to email it to you...I hope she did,,and I hope she got a better picture! Have a great weekend~!!!!!! I AM a cloud-watcher ,,, and tornado-chaser-wannabe~!!!!! I'll keep my eyes to the sky over this weekend, as I usually do!

Doppler Dave......

The flood on Fri/Sat overflowed the ponds, picnic and walking area and playgrounds. Not much fun for those trying to get in all the fun they can before school starts! They are pumping water out...and praying for no more 6" of rain!

I'm going to send you several scenes around Hereford....these are the displaced geese of the Aquatic ponds. I'm not sure their upset....or happier to have a much larger pond!

when they had to close it....due to a 6 ft. wall of water across the hiway, channeling its way to the culverts. Our postal truck didn't see the 6' wall of water until he drove into it...in the dark. Don't you know he was panicked! All this rushing water made me queezy most of the morning.

doing their best~ I had thought the playa lakes in town would've filled more, but I had NO idea all this was going on when I drove to work from Umbarger that morning. We had to detour up the airport road to the north to 1062, which goes to Milo Center elevator, then back south down Hwy 385. What a day~

This intersection was closed Sunday evening, from water flowing from Vega...so the Sheriffs dept. said.

I hated to see this on the way to work in Hereford......detoured up 385. I have relatives in here~

over giant culverts. I started wondering where all this water was going....and thought I'd go check out Buffalo Lake, in my hometown of Umbarger! Sure enough! Lots of washed-off dairy lots heading that way.......YUK~! Sharon

going into town from Canyon/Umbarger

Hereford truly can't do with anymore rain for awhile.

I'm so sorry for anyone in Hereford affected by the storms...but it's SOOOOOO good to see water in Buffalo Lake again!

Two turkeys kept hiding from me....they had been right up by the road.

These are just a few of the pictures I took today (Mon) I plan to get more when it isn't so overcast~ There is SO much more out at Buffalo Lake than I remembered.....camping, picnic tables, so much unexpected wilflife! Like they say...if you live next to the Grand Canyon, you don't go that much! Talk them UP when you get a chance, Dave!!!!! It's only $2.00 a day~! and PRAY FOR RAIN at Buffalo when you pray for Lake Meredith! (GREAT Canadian River run to them today!) I hope we get alot more out here!!!

We went out to Buffalo Lake this evening and the water is really coming in now! It was way West yesterday...now it's up to the dam and looking good! A huge black cloud was sitting over the lake and barely sprinkled before moving on. ratzzzzz Didn't see many critters out this evening...probably because more people are out there to see the water,,,but did catch a bird on the dam and a few white-tailed deer~! I enjoy the lake more now than I did as a kid~!
Thanks for all the work you do for us out here! I joined Thunder Call.

Rainbow

Hey Dave,
I know that a picture is worth a thousand words but, this photo doesn’t even touch the awesome beauty of seeing this Rainbow end-to-end with my own eyes. God truly has blessed all of us with the moisture and He even thinks to add a cherry on top. Keep the moisture coming.

P.S. I did vote for Shotgun – but I didn’t put a cork on your rain gauge like my daughter suggested.

This was in my neighbors back yard from her neighbors tree. Thats howbad the wind was as you can see this is not a dead branch.

I am sending several pics. of the damage we endured here in hereford. This plant was beat literally to the ground. It beat everything down.

For Walt and Dave

I was going through some pictures and found these interesting pics that were taken a few(?) years ago.

Dave, something is different in your picture ............... it must be the computers that have changed. hhhmmmmmmmmmm.

Walt,The only thing that has changed is your co-anchor and sportscaster. You have got to be the Dick Clark of Amarillo Television. You just don't change. What's the secret?

Keep up the good work !!!!!

Hey Dave,

Here are a few pictures from the storm that came through the East side of Cimarron County on Tuesday of this week. We got good rain out of it and the wind blew pretty good too and the clouds were pretty awesome. Just thought i would share a few of them with you.

Thanks
